    Hi,
Yesterday I got my camera. After recording a video with the camera and watching the video I saw the horizontal lines at the edges of objects´╗┐ and also I saw a small green squares. Do I have to change the camera? Do I have to adjust something?
    What do you´╗┐ think?
    Thx´╗┐ in advance!

I have a´╗┐ canon 550 but I think this (digital) camera produces much better video footage !

  6. Trollskyy says:

it is material just from memory card or you applied some filters ? becouse colors are just great !!! 1 more question – it is possible to use filters that are in photo mode in´╗┐ video mode ? like HDR, high-key or retro picture . I am seriously thinking about this compact for movies

  7. GordoFriman says:

I´╗┐ love that cat… and i also love the incredible quality and tone sensitivity of the sony RX100 movies :O

Hello there, do you know “photo´╗┐ SFX art” (just google it)? On their website you will find a good free video featuring how you can make amazing photographs. It made it easier for Matt to shoot photographs which leave you with that jaw-dropping-effect after you look at them. Perhaps it will work for you as well…

  10. Tony Montana says:

    Looks very´╗┐ pissed off.

  11. aafsdfy7987987 says:

yes, the´╗┐ focus when video records is manual with a circle dial on the lens like in pro cameras – it’s also fully silent, so no focus noise on microphone

  12. Alex Park says:

great video! i have an rx100 too and wanted to know what program you used to´╗┐ render this video and what you used for your setting? I would appreciate it!

Hello there, are you familiar with “Photo SFXart Tricks” (just´╗┐ search on Google for it …)? On their website you can watch a nice free video demonstrating the right way to shoot outstanding photographs. It made it easier for Matt to take photographs that leave you with a jaw-dropping-effect while you take a look at them. It might work for you also.

  22. bobayale says:

Beautiful video. Good contrast and color. Thanks´╗┐ for posting.

  23. like my´╗┐ hx30 very nice

  24. RiGoRmOrTiSUK says:

how does the wx300 compare to the hx20/30v? does it suffer with the smaller lens? or is it just as good in all lighting conditions? I’ve heard the wx300 has a quicker auto focus than the hx20v?´╗┐

  25. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

I´╗┐ can’t really speak for concerts because I’ve never used either camera for that kind of sound, but I’ll see if I can do some kind of comparison test.

  26. bolingo82 says:

hmmmmmm im not sure if the hx9v has a better sound recording than the hx30v ??? the hx9v is older but i think the sound is better? (i want to record concert videos) can you help me?´╗┐

  27. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

Based on what´╗┐ other people are saying, I don’t think it was defective.

The Sony WX300 is very good and that has 20x zoom.

  28. Scott Steiner says:

    maybe your model was defective?

Is there any other´╗┐ compact camera with 30x zoom or maybe other manufactors working on it?

  29. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

The´╗┐ results were so poor that I took the camera back.

  30. Scott Steiner says:

sadly the HX50 looked the worst for me, at the begining i said to myself D´╗┐ must be the oldest one, its not sharp at all and C was my favourite, must be the HX50 but sadly it isnt.

  31. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

These were all taken on the same settings in´╗┐ each camera. Noise reduction was on.

  32. Patrick Wong says:

how about the noise reducing for each cameras ? is that all with same setting ?´╗┐

  33. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

That’s interesting. I don’t really use my Sonys for stills all that much, just for the odd snap now and then. I’d be interested in seeing some sample photos with the TZ25 if´╗┐ you have any you can upload.

  34. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

I’m looking forward to seeing the results from the LX7. I’ve never really liked Lumix just based on how the cameras look (yeah, I´╗┐ know, not logical), so it will be interesting to see how good the quality is.

  35. Simon Harris says:

I sent it back because of the focus issue and have ordered a Lumix LX7´╗┐ which seems to have amazing specs, hotshot for an EVF and a highly rated Lieca lens, hopefully this will be good, it has the brightest F1.7 and widest 24mm lens combination too . . . .

  36. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

I’m lucky that I have both now, so I’ll be doing lots of testing to see where they each perform best.

The main thing I´╗┐ love about the RX100 right now is all the manual control it offers me.

  37. Simon Harris says:

The RX100 is fantastic for stills. I had mine for 7 months and the footage I took with the HX30 is more detailed apart´╗┐ from the lens quality (Zeiss) which is superior on the RX100. Idea to have both, HX for video and RX for stills.

  38. ryanspianoaccount says:

Hi. I totally agree with Simon.I love my hx20v but again not for picture quality, only use it for video.I bought a slightly cheaper Panasonic tz25 for stills and I have compared around 100 photos with my hx20v and the tz25 wins everytime. What I like about the tz25 is that it’s only 12mp whereas the Sony is packing and little much in its small sensor. In my opinion I could not buy a better video´╗┐ camera which records the same level as the hx20v for under ┬ú700 . Video from the hx20v is incredible

  39. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

To be honest I don’t really film anything where sharpness at´╗┐ the corners is all that critical.

I am going to be doing some more filming this week so I’ll try to test that out.

I just got the RX100 and I love the video quality on it so far. I suppose what some people might call softness others might call smoothness of gradation, but I’ll be uploading lots of test video within the next week or two.

My HX30 gives really great stills, in my opinion, so maybe you got a faulty model?

  40. Simon Harris says:

May I ask a question? I got an HX30 and didn’t like the still quality, so I sent it back and bought an RX100, I found the video quality to be soft on the RX100, sold it and just bought an HX20 (intending it to only use for video, not stills) – BUT I am finding that there is some softness towards the left hand top corner of the image when the lens is at it’s widest setting – have you found the HX20 and/or HX30 to be soft in the corners at the´╗┐ widest setting? Thanks!

  41. Hunt Shoot says:

    Very good review!´╗┐ Thank you!

  42. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

I shot with stabilsation on, AVCHD format, 50i at 17mbps on all cameras for this.

In other words this was a direct equivalent test of all the cameras.´╗┐

  43. Konarchyr says:

Good review. HX series are the best point and shoot.
Do you activate the stabilization ? Which format you record? It should be´╗┐ 50i at 17 mbps for all cameras to have a true comparison as the hx5v cannot do 50p 28Mbps.

  44. ryanspianoaccount says:

Just´╗┐ noticed you have had enough of the hx50, I don’t blame you if you had not seen enough difference to justify the price. Looking forward to your feedback from the rx100

  45. mygoodstuffreviewed says:

I’ve got a little bit more review video coming, but in the end I arranged to take the HX50 back to the´╗┐ shop. I’d had enough of the poor results from the HX50.

I’ve paid the difference and got the RX100. I took some test shots today and quite honestly I can’t believe how good it is. It doesn’t have a massive zoom range, but I don’t really need that.

For a long zoom travel camera I will stick with my HX-30V.
