My Olympus FE-4000 has been fallen and the outer lens ring seems to be out of balance (uneven). I tried #7 without any success. I also tried to turn the outer ring, but I cannot get any grip on it (sweaty fingers).

The camera isn’t worth € 120 for ‘professional’ repairing. Do you have other suggestions?

Thanks! Turning on camera and shooting simultaneously fixed my problem with the zoom and focus. I still see a few particles in the lens itself. Should I bother trying to get them out, or is it too complicated? Thanks again for helping.

  15. Lubricacion Canaria says:

    replace the lens!!!

  16. Ryuuken24 says:

Step number 10, at this point the camera is totally non repairable, so find the guy who sold you the cam, and beat him until you are satisfied. Hope that helps, best of luck!

I dropped my €60 worth camera this morning. When i tried to power it on it said ‘Try restarting’ and the lens was stuck and crooked. After that i tapped it against a table (only the upper lense part was stuck) and with some wringing it is a lot better now.. it works, autofocuses and with startup it correctly expands the lense. There is only a scratch and the lens doesnt close properly, but that doesnt matter that much.

    THANK YOU!!!

Hey, FIX #7 was very helpful but after I turned my camera back off, it got stuck and when I turned it on, it gave me the error again. Please help!

  23. MrKommunisti says:

Thank you so much! I was able to fix my camera with your help by tapping it against a table! My barrel was extended and wouldn’t move an inch!

  24. samadhi24 says:

Wow, thanks so much! I went through all the steps and it was still jammed, so with camera lens down I blew air into it whilst turning it in and off – it worked!

Now to take it back to the beach…

Sounds like it might be low power issues. I know you charge your battery, but the battery itself may be faulty. Rechargeables are only meant to last a couple years max, then should be replaced. How old is your battery? If more than a year, would recommend considering trying a new battery. Amazon has the best deals on generic replacements, usually for under $10 with shipping.
