Hi there, are you familiar with “photo SFX art” (do a Google search for it)? On their website you will find a good free video demonstrating how you can shoot impressive photographs. It helped Matt to create photos that have a jaw-dropping-effect when you look at them. Hopefully it will help you also…

The X10 is my favourite of those two, but even better is the Panasonix LX7 – I’m hoping to upload a review soon.

Great revies!!! What do you think is better for me, a student. I am going to go to Australia for 3 months and I am deciding between the Fujifilm X10 and the Canon S100. I want to take the camera everywhere, but for me the X10 is not to big. Which one should I choose? Thanks for an answer! (:

  5. There are serious focusing problems with the S100. If you zoom in and and out several times, AF won’t be able to regain focus. What’s worse is that you still won’t be able to regain focus in MF mode. However, the problem can be resolved by shutting down and restarting the camera. I don’t know if this is an inherent problem or a case of being sold a bad piece. Either way, the canon dealership in my country has refused to acknowledge this problem. It’s a good thing I haven’t sold my S95 yet.

    Alrighty! Thanks.

The S100 is excellent for such a small camera that you can carry anywhere, but if that’s not important and you want to get into creative photography then it’s well worth saving up further for an SLR. Affordable SLRs aren’t hard to use but there’s plenty of creative control available for when you need it, and image quality is in a different league to any normal compact.

Hi there, great review! I’m only 17 but obsessed with photography and I am currently deciding on my next camera to save up and buy. This one is looking like a pretty likely possibility but I am very picky when it comes to image/video quality but at the same time I’m not looking for a camera that’s too professional for me. I’m looking for a camera with great image/video quality - do you think this is the camera for me? Thanks 🙂

  9. bennyblanco98 says:

I’m saving up for that camera

Just want to say great review. Much better than those overly technical and drawn out ones that’s for sure. Thanks for helping me decide to get this as my next camera.

Just got one. Love it, even though it is a bit tiny…pictures are stunning and concert halls ought not complain b/c it LOOKS like a toy.

    Y49,000 is a bargain,
with that money in japan, you will only get an ice cream

Thanks for the quick and thoughtful reply!

The S100 has a brighter lens and a physically larger sensor, both of which mean it can capture more light and measure it more accurately – and that means better image quality. The difference isn’t huge in bright light but the S100 really shows its advantage in low light. The S100 also has better controls and advanced functions such as RAW capture.

  17. jkllkj2 says:

Is the S100 a big step up from the IXUS 230 in terms of image quality? They have similar specs but the S100 is around twice the price.

  18. shortsharpreviews says:

Hard to say because they’re so different. GH1 is more expensive but has interchangeable lenses and better image and video quality, although the FZ150 is pretty close for quality. Go for the GH1 if you plan to get additional lenses in the future. For an all-in-one package now, go for the FZ150.

  19. Kai Cameron says:

What do you think is better:
    The Panasonic lumix dmc-fz150,
    Or the Panasonic gh1

  20. shortsharpreviews says:

    It’s a Panasonic GH1

What camera do you use to film these videos?

  23. GottaBKD says:

Yeah that turn on thing was pretty slick. Love your style of reviews it has to catch on. Keep up the great work.
